Who we are

When Work Stops™ is operated by David McFadden ("we," "us," or "our"), acting as the data controller for personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at support@whenworkstops.org.

Information we collect

  • Account and contact details — name and email address you provide when purchasing or contacting us.
  • Support messages — content of emails and messages you send to us.
  • Usage and device data — pages visited, referring URLs, browser type, device identifiers, and IP address, collected via standard web logs and analytics.
  • Hope Guide conversations — messages you send to our on-site guide, used to help you find resources.

Payment information (card number, billing address) is collected and processed directly by our payment provider, Paddle. We never see or store your full card details.

How we use your information

  • To provide the resources, guidance, and products you request.
  • To deliver customer support and respond to your questions.
  • To improve the service, verify resources, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

We rely on contract performance (to provide what you asked for), legitimate interests (to operate and improve the site securely), consent (where required), and legal obligation as our lawful bases.

Who we share information with

  • Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record and payment provider, which handles all purchases, subscription management, invoicing, and tax compliance.
  • Service providers — hosting, analytics, and support tools that help us run the site under confidentiality obligations.
  • Professional advisers — legal and accounting professionals when necessary.
  • Authorities — where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When no longer needed, data is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal information; to object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email support@whenworkstops.org. Residents of the UK/EEA also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

International transfers

Because we use service providers based in different countries, your information may be processed outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat safeguarding your data as a priority.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to run the site and limited analytics cookies to understand usage. You can manage cookies in your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break parts of the site.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
